Gamifying Timekeeping for Retail

Prototyping a gamified experience for better employee timekeeping.

Summary

A provider of workforce management tools wanted to introduce gamification into their solutions to inspire better employee habits and align employee timekeeping and attendance performance with a company's goals, ultimately enhancing business success.

Our team leveraged a goal-directed design approach and low-to-medium fidelity prototyping to develop "PunchPal," a gamified time clock to improve employee timekeeping practices and reduce exceptions in brick-and-mortar retail.

My contributions involved researching gamification and timekeeping practices, mapping game mechanics and motivators with data and functional elements, and prototyping reward notifications, performance updates and the device's form factor.

We presented the product's prototype to stakeholders via an in-person presentation and explanatory video. Watch it below!
